The tooth from Satan

So remember that funny little post about my tooth (or lack there of) that gave everyone a giggle?  Well, that tooth turned out to be quite the monster.

I was once again feeling all smug and satisfied after my trip to the dentist and then the real pain started.  Up the side of my face.  One trip back to the dentist Thursday afternoon and a prescription for penicillin and I was on my way……to hell.

The pain just wouldn’t let up all weekend so another Monday morning call of desperation and the root canal was scheduled.  For Wednesday.

Last night I felt like I did the night before both of my c-sections, which either says a lot about my desperation to have this resolved or says something sad about the night before both of my children were born.

That dentist could have totally taken advantage of me I was so high.  But he didn’t.  At least I don’t think he did.  No way, he didn’t.  Anyway, who cares if he did as long as I never feel a shooting pain up the side of my face again.  But he didn’t.

Here’s to hoping (about the tooth).

Valentine's Day, Andy style

Last year's scavenger hunt was such a success that Andy brought it back. I love this little tradition. We each had a gift at every point in the hunt.

All the goods from Daddy.
Thanks for being such a wonderful Husband and Father.
We love you.
And I have no idea why all of this is underlined.

Today was the much anticipated Valentine party at SSS.

My little nerds.

(This was not the Valentine's Day outfit I had in mind, but I didn't have to get him ready so I'm not complaining....or am I?)
I really hope these kids come home loaded down with candy cause I need a fix.

I hate teeth....and running...and food I can't eat

Saturday
9:00 AM -11:00 AM - Run 10 miles. Feel smugly superior to all non-runners in the universe
12:00 PM - one of my lovely molars falls out of my head in pieces. Feel sort of stupid and white trash but am still feeling awesome about the run and am ready to eat a celebratory meal full of fats and carbs.

A few minutes later - Take a drink and scream.

1:00 PM - Pain
2:00 PM - see above
3:00 PM - see above
4:00 PM - see above
5:00 PM - Pain mixed with feelings of starvation and dehydration (ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. Or it might not).
6:00 PM - see above
7:00 PM - see above
8:00 PM - see above
9:00 PM - see above
10:00 PM - Pain but am so thirsty I try to take a drink of lukewarm water. Silent scream. Head to cabinet to find old c-section meds that are out of date but decide it's worth the risk. Take one.
11:00 PM - Pain

Sunday
Midnight - Pain. Start to itch. Is it the meds or am I starting to go crazy....from the starvation and dehydration?
1:00 AM - I start to act like an animal that needs to be caged with the incessant itching and the snaggle tooth and all...
2:00 AM- 4:00 PM - see above and throw in general irritation
5:00 PM - Almost attack my dental hygienist at church
6:00 PM- 9:00 PM- Superbowl party full of delicious food and drinks that the tooth will not allow me to indulge in. (I just ended that phrase in a preposition. Forgive me.)
10:00 PM - Pain. Contemplate taking Advil but realize this will require me swallowing water and decide it isn't worth the sharp shooting pain up my face
11:00 PM - see above
12:00 AM - see above
1:00 AM - see above
2:00 AM - see above
3:00 AM - see above
4:00 AM - watch the clock and imagine what I would be willing to do for anyone that can fix this tooth.
5:00 AM - Decide I might need to repent for the things I realized I was willing to do. Apparently, I have no standards or morals when it comes to pain.
6:00 AM - decide this justifies canceling my work-out
7:00 AM - pain
8:00 AM - call the dentist office
9:00 AM - pace back and forth in my house trying to decide the first thing I will eat when I have my life back.
10:00 AM - race to dentist office
10:30 - 11:30 - am happily high on some sort of crazy gas.
11:45 AM - skeptically taking my first sip of coffee.....it's a success.
12:00 PM to present - stuffing my face with everything in sight and declaring my undying love and devotion to my dentist. The kids look confused.

I vow to be a better person. I've been humbled.

It's the end of an era.

Notice the crib in the background?
Notice my baby is not in it?
Notice the paint stained hands, Yankees cap on his arm (the?) and missing clothes? That's completely beside the point.
Please act like you don't notice my misty eyes and I'll act like I don't notice my uterus crying out in protest.

Everyone else is doing it

Everyone is posting pictures of their fun family time during the snow storm and I won't be left out.  So here goes.
The slightly fun yet slightly miserable sledding experience:

And here are the "Sock-Glove Super Heroes"

Friends.

Dear Andy, I think your fantasy football team needs a little attention.

Whew, that was a close one. Now that I am confident that Andy is not looking at this post, check this out.
Meet Mia:
Apparently, Mia felt the need to clone herself because one dominating personality in our house just wasn't enough.

She put him in her pj's, handed him a baby doll, and shoved him into her tiny little doll bed.
I was about to come to his rescue until I asked him what his baby's name was and he sweetly said, "Summer."
"Keep right on playing, sweet boy. Mommy, loves you."

It's time to figure out those parental control thingies for the internet.

Apparently the two-year-old has figured out how to navigate the IMac.

"Yah, I'm the stuff."
He starts with nice, age appropriate things like learning letters...

...and ends with YouTube videos of the Beatles. Every time.
It hit me like a ton of bricks this week: My kid is going to be in a rock band, there's just no way around it.

And then this occurred to me: The band always practices at the drummer's house.

Heaven help me.

Project Runway? Maybe not.

Mia is a creator.  She is always creating something.  Always.  She writes, draws, composes, cooks, paints, acts, sings, and lately she has started designing clothes.

Here she is modeling her latest line of swimwear.  It is recycling at its finest, people.

And I kid you not, she was dead serious about wanting to have a pool party and make these for all her friends.  Where is the line between encouraging a passion and protecting your kid from humiliation?  If you ever see me in an extra large Target sack you'll know I haven't found it.

Shake it up baby now....

Mia concocted a plan to go to Yaya's all weekend without her rockstar brother so Bode and I are having fun in Photobooth on our new Mac.

I am assuming that there will be a time when it won't be cute to hear my son singing songs with multiple drug references and sexual innuendoes. But for now, I think his Beatles obsession is adorable.

Moms and Muffin Tops

Actually it was Moms and Muffins, but let's be real, we've all got 'em and eating muffins is why (well, that and carrying children.....and eating muffins while carrying children).

A very sweet morning at Sonshine School.  Thanks, Mia (and Mandy and Jennifer).

She's got it covered

Mia putting the boys to bed:Mia getting a little sassy and snapping at the photographer. I believe the quote was, "GET OUT!"
Apparently Bode was relegated to a bucket. The girl doesn't put up with any crap from two-year-olds. There will be consequences.

The only difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys.

A sweet little boy spent 6 hours in my house yesterday installing a new tv, blu-ray player, and surround sound.
Happy Young Life Crisis, Babe.
You are now officially a man.

I highly recommend putting a slide in your living room...

...while you wait for your new furniture to arrive.

And then let your children launch themselves off of it while you take pictures and pray they don't kill themselves so you don't have to explain to the authorities that you were encouraging this kind of behavior.

The chairs may not make it here until March but this baby has arrived. We're bonding quite nicely.
