So the girl loves shoes, who can blame her?

I like to call this look Joan Collins meets the Pied Piper:According to Mia, "They make the most beautiful sound when I walk in them."

Just Like Old Times - Except Not

So this is what we will endure to play cards together like we did in the olden days:And finally, after two bottles, one pack-n-play, two TV shows, water, juice, gummi snacks, two pee-pee accidents, a couple of yelling matches, several clothes changes, and one completely destroyed room (carpet and all) we actually did it.

The Happiest Day of Bode's Little Life

Blankee's back from his unfortunate extended stay in Chickasha (thanks Ahmo for mailing him):
Hmmm, what is this? A late birthday present, perhaps?
Wait a minute. Wait just a minute. Could this be what I think it is?
For the love of all things sacred, I believe this is my blankee. I thought you were gone forever.
This is just like old times. The memories are flooding back. I am beginning to feel like myself again.
I'm back, baby!

The verdict is in - Bode is out

Just a couple of the numerous reasons Bode has been uninvited to our trip to Disney in October. Sorry Son, after your behavior at Big Cedar you just didn't make the cut. Better luck next time.

We finally decided to do Bode a favor and leave him with his grandparents to be spoiled beyond recognition. I don't think he will miss us, or Disney one little bit. And we probably won't miss him much either!

Mia requires freakishly little sleep for a three year old (it's the Andy in her). Naps are completely out of the question (she hasn't napped regularly since 18 months) and she usually doesn't fall asleep until somewhere in between 10:00 and 11:00 PM. In order to maintain sanity in our home, all children must be out of sight by 8:30 so that means she has a lot of time to kill in her bedroom. I usually stop in on my way to bed to see what she's doing. Lately she has had letters waiting for me when I arrive.
Here are a few:
This one says, "I want (wut) Mom."
This one, "I miss (mes) you (u)."
And finally, "I will (wel) cry (kri) if (ef) you (u) go."
What's next, a suicide note? Bedtime is going to move to 10:30 from now on - I can't take the guilt.

Quotes of the day

Me: You have two new teachers at Sonshine School this year, Miss Jillian and Miss Marilyn. Do you want to see their pictures?
Mia: No......Are they pretty?
Me: Yes, very.
Mia: OK then, but only if they're pretty.
(Marilyn and Jillian, if by some chance you read this blog, after seeing your pics on the online community Mia's response was, "ooooh, fancy" in a semi-British accent)

Last night watching the Olympics
Me: Maybe we should get Bode in the pool soon, we could have the next Michael Phelps on our hands.
Andy: The only thing Bode and Michael Phelps will ever have in common is ADHD.

The other day in church:
Preacher: blah, blah, blah, blah, Jesus rose from the dead.
Mia: And thank goodness for that!

Yesterday was Mia and Raegan's first ballet class. Thankfully they have a closed circut television for all the hovering mothers (Gena and me) to watch their every move. Mia spent most of the class re-telling Raegan everything that the teacher just said. Raegan announced to the entire class that she loves Cheetos and wants to eat some.

I love me some toast

"Thanks, Mom. I'll just save this for later."

And for the sake of full disclosure I can not take credit for the fabulous remote control cake. Katie did it and let me tell you it wasn't just cute, it tasted amazing (and I'm kind of a snob about my cake, so that's saying something).

The love of his life - our remote control. He and his Dad are just going to have to fight this one out.

It was a day he'll never remember

The Bodester had his birthday party today, tomorrow's the real day but that'll just be our little secret. I'll tell ya, remote control themed parties are hard to come by. They just don't make plates and napkins with the Cox Digital cable remote very easy to find these days.

I would go on and on about how I can't believe my baby is one, and I can't, but today also marks my very first urinary track and kidney infections simultaneously so I'm really not in the mood. I almost made it through the party but finally I couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the house and drove around like a crazed lunatic until I found an urgent care clinic. For some reason August 16th seems to always include me writhing in pain. I can't wait for next year! On this day last year I went to bed ready for a nice c-section the next morning and at 11:00 PM was jolted out of bed with what I thought was my stomach ripping open. Turns out it was just a huge contraction, followed by my water breaking, followed by a very "intense" ride to the hospital, and finally a couple of hours later Bode came into the world screaming like a wild man. And he has been a wild man ever since. A wonderful, remote control obsessed, 9-1-1 calling, fire alarm tripping wild man. It's been quite a ride...

I realize I will regret this someday

But here me out: This single playtime in the car episode allowed me to unload and put away groceries, prepare lunch, consume lunch, and file my fingernails (otherwise known as a spa manicure in my world). So whenever I post about Bode driving the car through the house, you can tell me you told me so.

This is the response we get every time we ask Bode how old he is. Hand immediately goes to side of head.

It never ends..

This is what I found in the washing machine the other day:

Lucas when you have children, be prepared to find garbage pail kids paraphernalia all over your house.

One of many reasons we should not be allowed in public:

I think I will put some of this in my hair to save for later:

The Look

I am becoming quite accustomed to this pleasant look that just screams, "You're the best, Mom." You gotta love three year olds (or do you?).

Blogger Bash Recap

Here
Every time we go anywhere people assume that we are sisters and are surprised to hear that we are actually sisters-in-law. I have been so blessed to have Aubrie in my life. We make a great team (especially when she does most of the work). Case in point: blogger bash. Thanks to everyone who came, we had 62 people total! If you have any pictures, please e-mail them to me (Freckle Face and New Camera Snob, I'm talkin' to you two) so I can post about it. Next year - bigger and better and I am determined to have the Pioneer Woman as our keynote speaker!
