Wild Goose Chase

Here's a sneak peak, I am saving my favorites for the Christmas card....

Bode was less than thrilled.Aren't you glad Mia insisted on wearing her bright red Weezer t-shirt under her dress? Maybe that was a battle I should have fought.

It's the most dreaded day of the year...

I'm referring to family picture day. No offense to our fabulous photographer, Judson, who can work miracles (our family is proof) but it never fails that everyone is in bad moods, has snotty noses, is cutting teeth, and is starving on family picture day.
Here we have Bode contemplating the confiscation of the flower:He is feeling good about his decision: The reaction from Mia was just what he wanted:Yet he tries to make things right with her:That was so fun he decides to forgo the flower and get to the good stuff:Mia, who would never expect such cruelty, is becoming offended:He goes in for the kill:
And that's a wrap, people. We realized it could only go downhill from here. We packed up the kids and got the heck out of there:

There were some great photos from the shoot and I will share them later. Right now, I need some chocolate...

The Undomestic Goddess bakes...

...sort of. So some of my oldest friends and I decided to get together for baking night. The conversation was wonderful, and the baking...well, not so much. Gena's famous "no-fail no-bakes" became "fail-fail no-bakes" but hey, the third time was finally the charm. And my carrot cake cupcakes (i say my like I had actually made them before). Well, let's just say they tasted fine even though they happened to look eerily similar to the vomit that Mia spewed all over my pillow a couple of weeks ago.
However, reminiscing about days living in the Kolping Haus in Vienna together, a very crazy night in Prague, and the long and winding road that our lives have taken us since that glorious semester in '98 was worth an entire batch of vomit muffins and no-bakes so hard you could brake a window with them. And I'm still gagging them down as I type this...

Little boys need friends too

Bode and Greyson had their first play date at 15 and 20 months respectively. Had they been our first children they would have had their first play date at one week complete with reading time, tummy time, song time, and learn a new skill time. But alas, they are the second children, the last, the boys...so they got some toys dumped out on the floor and a box of cheerios to fight over.
And I think they'll turn out just fine.....

15 months of pure crazy

He may constantly beg to wear my high heels and spend all of his time playing with Mia's tea-set, but other than those two minor details he is all boy!

I'll have that high C if it kills me...

Bode's new favorite thing: Doing whatever Mia is doing.
Mia's new favorite thing: Screaming bloody murder at Bode for doing what she is doing.
Mommy's new favorite thing: Earplugs and prayer. I think I may try Valium tomorrow.

You know you have no life when...

My wonderful parents took the kids all weekend so Andy and I could have a much needed break from the crazies. So what does one 30-something wife and mother do with three days all to herself? If you guessed eat at fabulous restaurants, catch up on all those movies I haven't seen in 4 years, and get a head start on Christmas shopping you would be so, so wrong.

If you were leaning more towards hosting two showers and an elders wife/ministers wife tea, eating anything around the house that requires little to no preparation, consider heading to the mall to get a head start on that shopping and then realize you can do it all on Amazon so run immediately back to bedroom, put on tube socks and old Theta sweatshirt from 1997, surf the web for hours, and fall asleep on the couch then you would be pretty darn close.

Overall, I would call it a dream come true.

These are a few of his favorite things

Loving his sister (okay, maybe more like taking a running start and attacking her):

Playing with Mia's teaset (okay, maybe picking it up and hurling it over his head):

And, wonder of wonders, he is obsessed with this candle. I think he is secretly plotting to burn the house down.

After he bit completely through his lip Monday and continued to play at full speed with blood dripping out of both sides of his mouth like Dracula, I think it is confirmed that he is just your average terror, who owes me a new sweater and a carpet cleaning (I never knew so much blood could gush out of a baby's mouth).

She was born for this day

Mia was the Homecoming Attendant this year in Oklahoma Christian University's Homecoming Court. She truly believed, with all her heart that the entire event was put on for her, and her alone. Narcissistic, much?

She waved and twirled her skirt right out there on the court like she owned the place. The child was born for the spotlight. Just call her our little Jon Benet....wait, don't.

Trying on the crown, she just couldn't resist:
Quin Martin was the little boy attendant:
Waving to all her adoring fans: Handing the flowers to the new Queen:
You will be seeing more of this fabulous outfit (thank you sooo much YaYa). She wanted to sleep in it last night. We had a little fight because I too, wanted to sleep in it. I won.
