Black Tuesday

Yesterday, December 9th is a day that will go down in history in the Lashley family. The day that changed everything with this one sentence, as quoted by my four-year-old:

"I'm not wearing bows in my hair anymore."

And, like any normal mother who has every intention of putting huge bows in her daughter's hair for the next 10 years, in a moment of panic and weakness I chose to simply ignore the grotesque verbiage that had just spewed forth from my child's mouth and continued preparing her hair for the over-sized, over-priced, custom-made-to-match-the-outfit bow I had picked out for the day.

"Mo-om, I am a big girl and big girls don't wear bows. I'm not wearing bows."

In my last ditch effort to save my own sanity: "OK, like all big girls, you can take your bow out as soon as Sonshine School is over. Don't forget to do that."

One day down, 3,663 more to go.

Oh no. Somehow I think she will win in the end.

Oh my... I have nightmares about this day. Sophie's had bows in her hair literally from day one. I don't know what I'll do when she reaches this point.

I think our days with bows are numbered too...Landice will yank them out and wad them up.

Just give up, Sum. Think of all the money you will save.

I had to adios the bows way too soon with Roxy. She has perfect bow hair, too, but her statement has been made. I have moved her into hats now - maybe you can stick a bow on a hat, or a big flower or something equally adorable...

The only time Sophia ever withstood something in her hair for longer than 10 minutes was when the hospital put the bow in her hair after she was born. Consider yourself lucky you got this far.

Well, if you were like me you would always forget to do hair! And then it's not a problem. If I do remember to fix hair I forget to find bows.

Off the subject. Don't listen to acoustic guitar and scroll down to the picture of the kids playing in the leaves. You will need a box of kleenex. Now I do.

Lily started that at 4 too! She's 5 now and I still clip it in and tell her the truth. "You have to wear bows in the Church, the bible says!" ; )

I really don't say that!
