To the Wal-Mart Checker: Why you look so mean?
And then to the man behind him in line: Are you a daddy-boy or just a man-boy?
And then there is this:
He loves to show anyone who happens to be breathing his new big-boy underwear.
If you need us, we will be in hiding for the next 16 years.

Finally, it pays to be the ugliest. It also pays to be a queen, but that's fairly obvious.
Mia had the lead in "The Very Ugly Bug" at the Edmond Fine Arts Institute. (I use the term "lead" quite loosely.)
She was the ugliest bug.
She was the ugliest bug.
She always has been drawn to the misunderstood characters.
Bode was impressed.
Of course it's fine to be ugly so long as you are also a queen.
The second production they wrote themselves.
The cast included a queen, a tooth fairy, a princess, a guard, a knight, and Hannah Montana.
A Yaya original:
We were all very impressed with the entire evening, especially the cookies.

Reunited and it feels so good...
Raegan and Mia were apart last week while Raegan attended her first church camp.
I have co-dependency issues so Mia wasn't allowed to go.
(Well, that and she wasn't quite old enough, thank goodness)
They have been huddled together under this pile of blankets and pillows for an hour now.
At some point in their friendship this will become weird, but for now I say, "Hunker down, girls. A good friend is worth clinging to."

Worse than predicted.
Unfortunately, that's just the way motherhood is sometimes. Don't say you weren't warned.
So the frog lasted 1 hour and 34 minutes before it dove head first towards the light. Wouldn't you?
Mia refused to believe it was dead because it's eyes were open. Yet another tough life lesson I wasn't prepared to explain.
Personally, I was much more disturbed by it's tongue flailing out of it's mouth.
I see many a therapy session in our future thanks to this little guy.
Here are a few sentences I hope to never hear out of his mouth again:
"My happy part of my day was when I pee-pee in Mia's closet."
"I wipe poop on Mia's bike because I don't want her to ride it no more."
"Hey Dad, come look at my poop tower."
I'm off to carb load.
We all must survive somehow.

The circle of life
Shelly, the male turtle, died today.

Mia was heartbroken.
And I was heartbroken because she was heartbroken.
But thankfully she found a frog 5 minutes later and all was right with the world again.
Under the less than ideal conditions it is currently having to endure I predict it will live about 2 more hours.

Friggin' Nightmare
Places I have found pee and/or poop this week:
- my brand-new very expensive couch
- my brand-new overpriced orange chair
- the other brand-new overpriced orange chair
- the front porch
- the back porch
- my in-laws' porch
- every tree within a 10 mile radius
- the bed
- the bathtub
- on a Buzz Lightyear-robot-doll-space ranger thing. ("Hi Buzz. You standing in my pee-pee, Buzz. You like swimming in my pee-pee Buzz?")
- the floor
- the floor
- the floor
- the floor
- the floor
- did I mention the floor?

Memorial Day Happenings
Watching Boppy play the guitar:
Working on a Friendly Neighbors remix:
Seriously, keep your daughters away from this one.
He is very secure with his masculinity.

It's the end of the world as we know it...
...and I feel fine. Just a little REM flashback for all you ladies in your 30's who know who that band is.
But seriously, I have been fine with all the "ends" we have experienced this week, save one.
Mia's last day in the preschool department at MRCC:
Next week she goes to Journey Land. There are 5th graders there. They are really big and loud. But even so, I'm cool with it.
Saying their prayers. Is this not precious?
Andy and Mia with their favorite bible school teacher, Mrs. McBride:
"The last day of Sonshine School ever in your whole life" breakfast date with Daddy:
More proof of my recessive genes:
Mia has absolutely loved her teachers, Mandy and Jennifer.
She told me she was "kinda sad and kinda excited" to be going to big school next year. Fair enough.
Oh yah, and it was Bode's last day of SSS.
These poor ladies are getting straight into heaven for what they went through with him this year.
But here is my one issue. This has brought both Mia and me to tears fairly regularly the past month or so. I know better. I tell myself to let it go. But my heart won't listen to my head and as a result I have started acting like a two-year-old who doesn't get her way.
It's disgraceful. I hate it. Yet I can't stop myself.
You are most likely looking at the last over-sized hair accessory that will ever be in Mia's hair.
I know, I know, it's shocking.
Being a mother is sometimes painful. We must accept that.
And sometimes we must see a doctor to learn how to cope with our child's insistence on having unCHIed, unbrushed, unstraightened-with-product hair just hanging there with nothing to distract us from it.
It's going to be a long journey, but I'll get there.
