The food is amazing.

In my drunken' haze of exhaustion the other night, I realized that I had inadvertently made a top ten list about Brazil.  Do not question my ways.  So in keeping with my own genius-idea-I-didn't-even-know-I-had, I will just go down the list.

I did not take nearly enough pictures of the food, as I was way too busy stuffing my face.  But here are a few:
A caja fruit.  This is the fruit of a cashew nut (one single nut is inside that stem - no wonder they are expensive).  This tastes kind of like a cross between a peach and a tomato.
I could seriously live off of the fruit there.  Look at the size of that mango?  It's like a tiny child.  And those limes are actually their version of a lemon.  Don't ask, I don't get it either.  All I know is for the love of all that's good, do not call that a lime.  I ate about 14 of those giant tangerines per day.  I'm now nursing 14 mouth sores. Totally worth it.
The kids loved the food.  They pretty much ate most everything that was put in front of them.  Especially when what was put in front of them were Brazilian donuts.
 Chocolate pizza.  Enough said.
This is a passion fruit.  They grow on vines.  They are one of the many new loves of my life.

And here's the weird thing about a passion fruit:  You eat the slimy seeds in the middle and you throw away the flesh.  It's kind a weird sensation.  Imagine eating the guts of a cantaloupe but imagine those guts tasting like heaven, and that is a passion fruit.
You gotta love a grocery store called "Super Prix."  We spent quite a bit of our own super pricks' money there.
Roasted corn on the beach.  It's kind of like roasted corn at the Oklahoma State Fair, but replace the grimy atmosphere with a beautiful beach and replace the grimy people with grandpas in speedos and grandmas in thongs.
Dinner in Brazil is very simple and very late (like 9:00 PM late).  They eat their big meal at lunchtime.  However, in my opinion, there is never a bad time of day for carbs and coke.
The kids cracking macadamia nuts with a rock and eating the delicious flesh:
Andy will try anything in a foreign country.  (However, I am still trying to get him to eat a vegetable in the States.  Go figure.) If it involves a crowd of natives gathered around him in eager anticipation, he's all in.
And now I'm hungry.  Again.

Love these posts! Andy is a true Sheerer descendant with the dislike of veggies. That is so funny.

You are so right about Andy in the last picture. Hey, if it's the Lord's work and involves a gaggle of Brazilians staring at you.....

Love the pictures.
And I never want to hear you say the words "I could totally live there" again. Your kids need the OK State Fair and we need Andy's dead lobsters in our dumpster. Here. In the states. :)
