A Simple, Uncomplicated Monday

3:00 head to dance with two little ballerinas and a bed-headed, paci lovin' boy in tow. Stop at Sonic for our daily fix, listen to the ballerinas talk and giggle about toots. Try to bite my tongue.

4:00 head to Wal-Mart all for one crucial ingredient for my latest cooking adventure. Marvel at how a simple trip to Wal-Mart can miraculously become an adventure for two ballerinas and their little boy sidekick.

4:50 make it home to start on dinner. The ballerinas head for the girly bedroom, the sidekick heads straight for my hip where he will stay for the remainder of the dinner preparation.

5:30 present my beautiful creation to the family (plus Raegan). Watch in horror as they react to their wonderful dinner as if I were trying to poison them with arsenic.

6:00 resign to the fact that despite my best efforts I will never be June Cleaver. Secretly feel relieved.

6:05 Erick and Greyson come in through the garage and join the mix. Erick claims he likes my dinner. Silently thank God for friends that know when to be slightly dishonest.

6:15 Erick, Andy, and I sit at the table talking about Erick's latest thrift store find while the kids roam around the house making messes. Let Ringo in to join the mix. Find some sort of validation in the fact that at least he will eat my dinner. 6:30 The adults collectively decide it is time for Bode's first haircut. Erick wins the honor of administering the cut with a pair of fabric scissors. I feed the Bodester peppermints and Andy takes the obligatory first haircut pictures. 7:00 Turn on Barney and get the ballerinas and the boys settled in with their snacks.
7:45 Erick rounds his kids up and heads out through the garage. Andy and I start the bedtime routine.

8:30 I settle into my bed with my last Beth Moore study for the week. Mia sneaks into my room and asks if she can snuggle for just 5 minutes. I can't resist. I shut the workbook and snuggle with my baby girl and think to myself, "This is what heaven must be like."

My evening sadly involved The Bachelor and True Beauty while kids ran around the house and got attention only on commercials. I need to go back to the month we gave TV up and actually keep it going. Thank you for reminding me of this!

I know what you mean about snuggling! I love when one of my kids snuggles with me. :)

Good luck figuring out what to do with Bode and the paci. Delaney was a paci user, but by the time we took it away, it had been a long time that she'd only been giving it to her at naps and bedtime (mostly). We cut the end off of one.

You and gena know how to produce some beautiful girls!!! Ballet... I'm jealous. I guess it's part of the "don't have to pay for a wedding" package.

I still have three days of Esther to finish before tomorrow. Hmmph.

Sounds like a beautiful day! Just out of curiosity, what did you fix for dinner?

FYI......I ate that whole batch of thai goodness that you whipped up. Yum. And Bode's hair looks good if I do say so myself.

Your blog is hilarious. I love Mia and her amazing adventures and it frightens me to death to look into the future of the most dramatic girl ever... I have one of those. Bode is also completely adorable and let me tell you pacis are SOOOOOO much better than thumb sucking.
I read your blog more than the bible... sad, but true.
