It's the end of the world as we know it...

...and I feel fine.  Just a little REM flashback for all you ladies in your 30's who know who that band is.

But seriously, I have been fine with all the "ends" we have experienced this week, save one.

Mia's last day in the preschool department at MRCC:

Next week she goes to Journey Land.  There are 5th graders there.  They are really big and loud.  But even so, I'm cool with it.

Saying their prayers.  Is this not precious?

Andy and Mia with their favorite bible school teacher, Mrs. McBride:

She taught both of them the 23rd Psalm and the books of the bible.

"The last day of Sonshine School ever in your whole life" breakfast date with Daddy:
More proof of my recessive genes:

Mia has absolutely loved her teachers, Mandy and Jennifer.
She told me she was "kinda sad and kinda excited" to be going to big school next year.  Fair enough.

Oh yah, and it was Bode's last day of SSS.
These poor ladies are getting straight into heaven for what they went through with him this year.

But here is my one issue.  This has brought both Mia and me to tears fairly regularly the past month or so.  I know better.  I tell myself to let it go.  But my heart won't listen to my head and as a result I have started acting like a two-year-old who doesn't get her way.

It's disgraceful.  I hate it.  Yet I can't stop myself.

You are most likely looking at the last over-sized hair accessory that will ever be in Mia's hair.
I know, I know, it's shocking.

Being a mother is sometimes painful.  We must accept that.

And sometimes we must see a doctor to learn how to cope with our child's insistence on having unCHIed, unbrushed, unstraightened-with-product hair just hanging there with nothing to distract us from it.

It's going to be a long journey, but I'll get there.

I gave birth to Phoebe Buffay

(Which secretly thrills me.)

There's more than one way to eat a popsicle.

"If eating a popsicle like it's corn on the cob is wrong, I don't want to be right."

Breathe, Baby, breathe.

There is no rest for the weary here at Lashley Headquarters.
This week:  pneumonia.
Pneumonia means steroids.  Steroids mean insanity.  Crazy non-sleeping insanity.
Under normal circumstances I would not bow to my 2-year-old's demands for coffee.
But these aren't normal circumstances.  He has me hostage with the horrid cycle of psychotic I'm-revved-up-on-steroids meltdowns that lead to coughing, wheezing, I-can't-breathe attacks that lead to more meltdowns thus starting the cycle over again.
So coffee it is.

You've got two more days, Dude.  And then I assure you there will only be one person in this house drinking coffee.  And if you happen to be a 30-something mom trying to survive raising two children, then by all means, help yourself.

What 10:40 PM looks like

I peeked in on Mia as I was making my way to bed and found her reading all by herself.
She was thrilled that I insisted on documenting the event.
She can't resist the silly face picture and insists on re-taking it until it meets her standards.
 It sometimes takes hours.
She's not a fan of clothing.
I try to tell her that someday this may become an issue.
Like at her first slumber party.

But then again, confidence is everything.

Concerning my previous post: Although Andy referred to it as "an all-new low" he agreed that the table was fabulous and that we must have it immediately.
Ok maybe those weren't his exact words...
The good news is that I am number 50 billion on the waiting list and it should arrive about the time I move into the nursing home.
Mission Accomplished!

This post is for my husband

I don't post much about my house or cooking because let's be honest, I don't really have too much going on in those areas.  I love the name of my blog because it keeps expectations low.  Which in my case is exactly how it should be.

However, I need to get this message to my husband ASAP.  He only reads this thing when other people tell him about it so feel free to let him know that I need this as soon as possible.  And remind him my birthday is in a couple of months, if you don't mind.

I have been searching for the perfect coffee table for months now and I finally found her:

Check her out in a room:
For the love of all things plexi, this must will be mine.

And thank you Little Green Notebook, for the much needed inspiration.

Some things I need to get off my chest

How is it that Gena can look this cute in a trucker hat?  It's one of the great mysteries of the universe.
And if you decide to be friends with her, you must first resign yourself to the fact that you will always look like Frumpy McFrumperson next to her.
I'm resigned.

And here's a confession:  I don't really like the zoo.  It scares me to death.
I don't trust those crazy ostriches with their beady eyes to be contained by barbed wire.
Or lions behind glass?  I'm not convinced.

I think Mia shares my sentiments.
That place is a time bomb just ticking away.
You heard it here first, people.

A Simple Saturday

The day started with the kids' annual trip to Edmond Touch-A-Truck.

The name is kinda creepy and illegal sounding but it's a little boy's heaven.

Meet Little Bo Peep:
Below is proof that I actually do attempt to dress Bode, in case any of you were contemplating calling DHS.

See, there are shorts and socks....in the middle of the road.

Let's just pretend I didn't say that last part thus creating another potential DHS issue.
Will a puddle of muddy water and some dirt always make my kids this happy?

One can always hope.

Sonshine School Program in reverse order

I hate that the pictures in blogger always load in reverse order.  But that's just me.

So clever:

Uncle Lucas and Bode rockin' it:

Mia's psycho face.  It occasionally keeps me up at night.

I almost had to breathe in a bag when I saw her walk out in a cap and gown.

Don't have a clue who this boy is but he definitely wins best dresssed.
