One Classy Family

The more I post the more I reveal about my family. We are a classy bunch. Case in point:
And just in case you are as lazy as I am and don't always bathe your children before bed and don't always get around to putting on their pj's, "tummy art" will bleed onto your child's sheets and never come out!

A tribute

My grandmother, otherwise known as Ahmo, is the most wonderful woman in the world. There is no one like her. It's that simple. No one. "Ahmo," you ask? What in the world does that mean? Well, it is just what came out of my mouth one day when I was a tiny little thing, and that was that. She has been Ahmo ever since.

Not only has she been one of the most important people in my life, but she is now one of the most important people in my children's lives. And that makes her all the more special. Her energy, generosity, love, and enthusiasm are an inspiration to me.

Mia made this cake at her house this morning:

"Why, her hair isn't even combed and those pj's look like they have been worn for days!" Well, that is what is so special about Ahmo. She sees what most of us never really see - the big picture.

Oh, and then there's this:

I never said she was perfect....

This one's for Uncle Lucas

So remember this? Well, she wasn't in a very 'Blanche' mood yesterday so she settled for Sophia instead.

Now Lucas, i am going to let you explain why you had these little pieces of memorabilia in your possession in the first place. Go ahead, we're waiting...

Well, I didn't have to wait long. here is Lucas' response:

how appropriate as Estelle Getty just passed away. Mia has a great respect for the classier actresses of our time.(as for where i got the buttons...I'm trying to decide what's less embarassing- 1)i made them myself or 2) i won them from a Lifetime online trivia contest.i guess there is the third option, that i found it on the ground and was too lazy to throw it away so i gave it to your daughter...yeah that's the ticket.)

Blogger Bash - where all the cool people will be on August 7th

And by cool I mean those without felonies. If you are creepy - stay away.

So here's the deal: I don't really have time to talk to my friends in person anymore, thus I blog. But for fear that I may forget how to have an actual conversation, I think it is time we all get together for an evening. There are some of you that I have never even met, but I feel like I know you so let's just go ahead and make our friendship official.

Come to Blogger Bash. It's all about talking and eating. Now who doesn't enjoy that? Also, there will be tons of cool people promoting their online businesses so you may even find some amazing deals for your little one, because they really don't have enough. And even better, you may even win something.

In all seriousness (or as serious as I can be), I need this and I know you do too. If you blog, don't have a blog but enjoy reading others, hate blogging and hate those who do (don't worry, we'll convert you), or you just want to check out all the online businesses than this party is for you. We don't discriminate (except for the criminal thing)! E-mail me or talk to one of your friends for details.

Yea for parties!

Colorado

After 11 months, the perfect sibling picture still alludes me. Thanks, Mia.

The weather, oh the weather - it was perfect. Andy has always said I've never met a temperature I liked. Well, I finally met it, and I'm in love.

Roadtrip

13 hours in a car with an infant:

You wanna destroy a brand-new magazine that hasn't even been read yet? It's all yours. You feel like trying your hand at driving, huh? Go for it.

Aidan and Mia

As adorable as these pictures are, that last one may totally creep me out someday if they ever get married.

You can only ask for the butter for so long before you just have to go and get it yourself.

If you're ever missing one of your child's socks

I would recommend running immediately outside and checking in your bushes. Chances are, it's there.

We're off

I can't believe we are taking a 12 hour (one way) road trip with this crazy guy, but I guess we always were gluttons for punishment...

Her latest exercise in independence - dressing herself

It's quickly become my latest exercise in self control.

"Why yes, I am in a green skirt, turquoise hoodie, and blue tank top." "You wanna make somthin' of it?"

And he's off...

Long Summer Days

These long summer afternoons require the use of my imagination. Today, it was "Go paint your playhouse day". Tomorrow, "clean the paint off your playhouse day."

Raegan wasn't too impressed with pretend work so she settled for dancing in the paint. Gena, I owe you a new pair of shorts. This insanely messy project bought me exactly 27 minutes. In my world that's a vacation.

If you snooze you lose.

Bode can sniff an abandon ice cream cup a mile away. So much for that first birthday party having any firsts.

I love my little punks

And thank you to all the punks out there that gave me Starbucks gift cards for my birthday. I will take all the help I can get to maintain my habit.
And I will go ahead and admit that I stole my new favorite word from this lady. If she can call her kids punks then so can I.

Hand, foot, and mouth party, anyone? Look, the evidence of clothing:

Monday, July 7, 2008

Are you starting to see a theme here?

Despite what you may think, my children do, in fact, own clothing. I just don't see the point in them wearing it when it is so stinkin' hot and they are just going to get them filthy. Now that, my friends, is my way of going green. Quote of the day: After Mia had a complete meltdown because I couldn't make the train track the way Daddy does it, "See Mom, Daddy and I are smart. We know how to do this the right way because we are both so smart. Maybe you will learn someday."

My response (in my head, I promise): "You're not so smart when you're dead."
